Metallurgical Industries sells 6.4m shares in Tourah Portland Cement

Egypt’s Metallurgical Industries Holding has reportedly sold 6.4m shares in Tourah Portland Cement. The share sale has a value of EGP45.7m (US$2.91m). Tourah Portland also reported a net loss in its 3Q20 results last week.

Tourah Portland Cement reports 10% decline in net sales

Egypt’s Tourah Portland Cement has reported a net loss of EGP56.7m (US$3.62m) in the third quarter of 2020, compared to a net loss of EGP55.3m in the year-ago period. Net sales declined 9.8 per cent YoY to EGP13.8m from EGP15.3m in the 3Q19.

Egypt’s Suez Cement is expected to submit a tender offer to acquire up to 100 per cent of the issued capital of Tourah Portland Cement for EGP7.18 (US$0.45) per share, according to a disclosure to the Egyptian Exchange (EGX). Tourah Portland Cement sees loss widen in 1Q20

Egypt’s Tourah Portland Cement has seen its net loss widen to EGP64.9m (US$4m) in the first quarter of 2020, compared to EGP50.9m in the 1Q19. The company also reported an 82.8 per cent YoY decline in sales to EGP50m from EGP290.8m.

Tourah Portland Cement posts net loss in 2019

Egypt’s Tourah Portland Cement has posted a net loss of EGP617.25m (US$39.3m) in 2019, compared with an EGP36.09m profit in the previous year. Total sales also declined 51.7 per cent YoY to EGP531.75m from EGP1.1bn. The company’s board of directors has reportedly stated that it has been one of the worst years for the industry due to higher supply, stronger competition and lower demand.

Tourah Cement sells off kilns and mills for EGP31m

Tourah Portland Cement Company announced the sale of decommissioned kilns and grinding mills at a public auction held on 16 December. Egypt’s Tourah Cement has seen its net losses widen 204.7 per cent YoY for the first six months of 2019, surging to EGP461.25m (US$27.78m) from EGP2.24m in the 1H18. On a quarterly basis, the company’s net loss advanced to EGP50.9m in the 1Q19 from EGP13.8m in the corresponding period of 2018.

Boldrocchi Ecologia has signed a new contract with Tourah Portland Cement, a subsidiary of Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC), for revamping of the whole Line #9 de-dusting units at the Tourah plant in Cairo. Tourah Portland Cement Co more than doubled its third-quarter net loss to EGP35.38m (USD 4.95m) from EGP 14.69m in the same period of last year.
